- புத்தகத்தோட முன்னுரையிலேயே இதில் கலைஞர் அதிகமா தெரிகிறாரா? நான் அதிகமா தெரிகிறேனானுதான் ஸ்டாலின் எழுதியிருக்கிறார். அதே போல புத்தகம் முழுக்கவே கலைஞர் பற்றிதான் நிறையவே சொல்லியிருக்கிறார் ஸ்டாலின். இவருக்கும் கலைஞருக்கும் அப்பா – பையன் உறவைத் தாண்டி தலைவர்- தொண்டர் உறவு இருந்ததைத்தான் பல இடங்கள்ல பார்க்க முடிந்தது. கலைஞர் கருணாநிதி கல்லக்குடி போராட்டத்தில் சிறைக்குச் சென்றபோது ஸ்டாலின் பிறந்து 135 நாள் ஆன கைக்குழந்தை. அவரைத் தூக்கிக் கொண்டு திருச்சி சிறையில் போய் கலைஞரைச் சந்தித்தார் தயாளு அம்மாள். உதயநிதி பிறந்தபோதும் கலைஞர் கருணாநிதி, இந்திரா காந்திக்கு கருப்புக் கொடி காட்டும் போராட்டத்தில் கைது செய்யப்பட்டு சென்னை மத்திய சிறையில் இருந்தார். மாறனுக்கும் குழந்தை பிறந்தபோது அவர் மிசா கைதியாக சிறையில் இருந்திருக்கிறார். இதைக் குறிப்பிட்டு ஸ்டாலினுக்கு கருணாநிதி சிறையில் இருந்து ஒரு கடிதம் எழுதினார். அதில் “பொதுவாழ்வு பூங்கா அல்ல… புயலை எதிர்த்து நிற்பது” என்று குறிப்பிட்டிருக்கிறார்.
- கலைஞரிடம் பலரும் ரசிக்கும் ஒரு குணம் அவருடைய நகைச்சுவைத் திறன். உயிருக்குப் போராடிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் சூழ்நிலையிலும் கலைஞர் இதைக் கைவிடவில்லை. கலைஞர் காவிரி மருத்துவமனையில் இருந்தபோது அவருடைய தொடையில் ஒரு ஊசி போட வேண்டியிருந்தது. “இது கொஞ்சம் வலிக்கும் பொறுத்துக்கோங்க” என்று கலைஞரிடம் சொல்லியிருக்கிறார் டாக்டர். அதற்கு உடனே “காவிரி என்றாலே வலியும் வேதனையும் இருக்கும்தானே” என்று கலைஞர் சொன்னதாக அந்த மருத்துவர் சொல்லியிருக்கிறார். இதே நகைச்சுவை குணம் கலைஞருடைய தாயார் அஞ்சுகம் அவர்களுக்கும் இருந்ததாக ஸ்டாலின் குறிப்பிடுகிறார். அஞ்சுகம் அவர்கள் கடைசி காலத்தில் உடல்நலம் சரியில்லாமல் ஆனபோது மருத்துவமனைக்கு அழைத்துச் செல்ல ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டது. அப்போது அவருடைய தலை கலைந்திருந்ததால் ஸ்டாலினின் அத்தைகள் சீப்பை எடுத்து தலைவாரிவிட “ஆமா அப்படியே தலைசீவி பூவைச்சு குஞ்சம்லாம் மாட்டுங்க. கல்யாணப் பொண்ணையா சிங்காரிக்குறீங்க” என்று சொல்லி சிரிக்க வைத்தாராம். அவருக்கு ‘ஸ்’ சொல்ல வராது என்பதால் ஸ்டாலினை ‘..தாலின்’னுதான் கூப்பிடுவாங்களாம்.
- 1965 ஆம் ஆண்டு அப்போதைய முதல்வர் பக்தவச்சலத்தை ஹிட்லர், முசோலினியுடன் ஒப்பிட்டு முரசொலியில் கார்ட்டூன் வெளியிட்டார் கலைஞர் கருணாநிதி. அதற்காக காவல்துறை அவரை கோபாலபுரம் வீட்டுக்கு வந்து கைது செய்தது. இதை நேரில் பார்த்தநாளில் இருந்துதான் அரசியலைக் கவனிக்கத் தொடங்கியதாகச் சொல்கிறார் ஸ்டாலின். இது நடந்தபோது அவருக்கு வயது 12. அதற்கு பிறகு இளைஞர் தி.மு.க தொடங்குகிறார்.
