காரணம், கடந்த 2014-ஆம் ஆண்டு அழகிரி தி.மு.க-வில் இருந்து நீக்கப்பட்டது முதல், அவரும், ஸ்டாலினும் பரம எதிரிகளைப் போல் விரோதம் பாராட்டி வந்தனர். கருணாநிதி சிகிச்சை பெற்று வந்த காவேரி மருத்துவமனையிலும், கருணாநிதி இறந்தபின்பு அவரது உடல் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த ராஜாஜி ஹாலிலும், அவரது இறுதிச் சடங்கு நடைபெற்ற மெரீனா கடற்கரை நினைவிடத்திலும், எதிரிகளைப் போன்றே ஒருவரையொருவர் எதிர்கொண்டனர்.
மேலும், 2021 சட்டமன்றத் தேர்தல் தேதி, நெருங்க நெருங்க அழகிரியின் குடைச்சல்கள், மு.க.ஸ்டாலினுக்கு அதிகரித்துக் கொண்டே போனது. “ஸ்டாலினை முதல்வராக்க விடமாட்டேன்; தென் மாவட்டங்களில் தி.மு.க-வின் வெற்றியை முழுமையாகத் தடுப்பேன்” என்றெல்லாம் அதிரடியாகப் பேசிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். அழகிரியின் இந்தப் பேச்சுக்கள், மு.க குடும்பத்திற்குள் அதிர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்திக் கொண்டிருந்த நேரத்தில், அழகிரி அதைவிட பெரிய அதிர்ச்சியைக் கொடுக்க திட்டமிட்டிருந்தார். அமித்ஷா முன்னிலையில், அவர் பி.ஜே.பி-யில் இணையப்போவதாக வெளியான தகவல்களே அந்த உச்சக்கட்ட அதிர்ச்சி. கடந்தாண்டு நவம்பர் மாதம் 21-ம் தேதி அமித்ஷா தமிழகம் வந்தபோது, அழகிரியின் பி.ஜே.பி விஜயம் அரங்கேறப்போவதாக, பி.ஜே.பி வட்டாரத்தில் உற்சாகமாகவும், தி.மு.க வட்டாரத்தில் அதிர்ச்சியுடனும் பேசப்பட்டது.
